  3. 3. (Optional) Upload a photo. The Two-Column template includes a circular photo in the header. Upload a JPG or PNG up to 2 MB.
  4. 4. Download. Export to PDF for sending. Download the .tex file if you want to keep iterating in Overleaf.

Why use LaTeX for your resume?

LaTeX produces typography that Word and Pages cannot match. Consistent spacing, perfect kerning, the right balance of whitespace, and a result that looks the same on every machine and printer. Recruiters spend an average of 7-10 seconds on a resume — typography signals attention to detail before the words are read.

For technical and academic roles, a LaTeX resume is also a small signal of competence. It says you can handle structured tooling, and you care about the craft of your output.

Professional typography

Hand-tuned spacing and font rendering you cannot get from a word processor.

ATS-safe

Text-based PDFs parse cleanly in Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, and Taleo.

Reusable source

Edit one .tex file and re-export. No fighting Word's autoformatting.

FAQ

Can I add a photo to my LaTeX resume?
Yes. Pick the Two-Column template and upload a JPG or PNG. The photo renders as a circular avatar in the sidebar.
Is the LaTeX resume generator free?
Yes. Free, no account, no signup. Everything runs in your browser.
Can I download the .tex source?
Yes. Both PDF and .tex downloads are available. Edit the .tex in Overleaf, TeXShop, VS Code with LaTeX Workshop, or any LaTeX editor.
Which template should I use for a tech job?
Modern (one-column). It is the safest pick for software, data, and product roles and ATS systems parse it cleanly.
Which template should I use for academia?
Academic CV. It includes Research Interests, Publications, Teaching, and Awards sections — the standard structure for faculty and postdoc applications.
Are LaTeX resumes ATS-friendly?
Yes when exported as plain PDF (not scanned images). The templates here use standard LaTeX text which most ATS systems parse correctly. For maximum ATS safety, prefer Modern or Classic over Two-Column.
Can I edit the LaTeX source for finer control?
Yes. Click Download .tex and open the file in any LaTeX editor. The generated source is clean, commented, and ready to extend.
